Useful links:
- Sloan Digital Sky Survey
If you know the name of the object you are looking for, you can download an image of that
part of the sky scanned from photographic plates. cool.
- Variable
Star Network
An annoucement service and resource for variable star observations
(but it apparently died about 12/03 and hasn't come back)
- AAVSO Variable star observers association
that has a long history and archives of observations. The site has recently changed
organization, so links are still moving around but it is worth exploring especially for
information on long period variable stars and the brighter dwarf novae.
- AAVSO variable stars of the season
This is a nice series of articles with good hyperlinks to more in-depth sources
and citations to the literature
- CCD committee of
AAVSO There are manuals on how to observe using CCD cameras. This will be useful once we
get the access to NSU's observatory settled. Our observatory is still in legal limbo :-(.
- Hands on UniverseIt has a kiddy looking interface,
but it has real data in FITS format we can analyze. Very nice for learning AIPWin. Look especially
for SS Cyg data.
