Course Goals:
This is the site for the introductory astronomy course at LSMSA. The purpose of the course is to familiarize the student with the basic concepts of astronomy, starting from naked eye observations and ending with the current theories of the universe.

There are  mathematical prerequisites for this course!  Students should be familiar with  basic algebra and have taken trigonometry. Most math for this course is basic (don't panic) but a calculator will be required.

This web site contains the syllabus and course notes as well as links to many interesting sites! Try out the special interest sites for more information about astronomy.
