This page will include resources found on the World Wide Web which deal with topics covered in this course. This may include Java applets for visualizing electric and magnetics fields, sites that deal with applications of principles covered in the class, or research centers with introductory tours that explain topics in modern physics.

The Course Itself :

Electricity and Magnetism :

The electron was discovered 100 years ago. Celebrate the centennial of the electron at Central Michigan University's Electron Birthday Webpage.

For the intensely Web-literate : Here is a gallery of VRML (Virtual Reality Markup Language) visualizations of electromagnetic fields. (Note : Requires a VRML-capable browser !!)

• Then take a tour of one of the nation's great national labs : Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory
• The next generation proton-proton collider, the Large Hadron Collider or LHC, is under construction at CERN, the European Center for Particle Physics (and birthplace of the World Wide Web !)
• High Temperature Superconductors were codiscovered at the University of Houston. Visit the Texas Center for Superconductivity there.
• Have you heard of a new form of matter called Bose-Einstein condensates ? The atom trappers at MIT have put together an introduction to this "hot" topic.
• Lasers ? Did you say Lasers ? Have I got some lasers for you - the highest energy lasers on the planet are at Lawrence Livermore Lab in California.
