3rd DØSAR Workshop Preparation Guide

 
  • All Participants
    • Prior to the workshop, the participating instutions are required to setup for DØ Remote Analysis
    • This must include setup for SAM station
    • SAM Team will be available for Friday, April 18, afternoon hands-on session but given the time limitation, they will only be able to help you for minimal number of issues.   Therefore it is strongly encouraged for the participating institutions to go through the entire setup beforehand.
  • Participants with remote MC Farm operation
    • Install globus 2.2, see the updated globus installation instruction at http://www-d0.fnal.gov/computing/D0Race/McFarm/McFarm.html
    • We recommend you to Install Condor as your batch system, if you plan to install one from scratch.  An instruction for Condor installation will soon be available.
    • Setup for MC Farm, see http://www-d0.fnal.gov/computing/D0Race/McFarm/McFarm.html
    • Download and install p14.00 production version DØ software
    • Install the resource monitoring applicaiton, ganglia, for online, real time monitoring of your resources. The installatioin structions will soon be available.
    • Allow UTA graphical display (McFarmGraph) access your site for updated MC job status display.
  • Specific Requirement for Remote MC Job Submission Demo.
    • Download a real MC production request from the central MC production site.
    • Generate the corresponding PYTHIA file and min-bias event files ahead of the workshop.
    • We will make an arrangement to submit the DØStar and other remaining processes of the production remotely to your farm at the workshop.  The status of the job submission and the resource usage will then be monitored through the resource monitoring, ganglia, and McFarmGraph.
